Dr. Matt Penz

Matt Penz, DDS, grew up in Rochester, Minn. He is proud to serve his community through quality dental care.

Education

Dr. Penz is a graduate of Mayo High School in Rochester. He graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College in Northfield with a mathematics major and a biomedical studies concentration. While there, he played quarterback and served as captain of the Ole football team. To earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, Dr. Penz attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Upon graduation he received the "Quality Care in a Caring Matter" award from the dental school faculty.

Dental Interests

While Dr. Penz enjoys all aspects of dentistry, he has special interests in cosmetic and sports dentistry. He stays current with the ever-changing field through continuing dental education, receiving training through the Alleman Center of Biomimetic Dentistry, Kois Center, and Spear Education. Dr. Penz is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Minnesota Dental Association, and Zumbro Valley Dental Society.

On a Personal Note...

Dr. Penz and his wife, Kate, reside in Rochester with their daughters, Sophie, Lucy, Ella, and Annie. Dr. Penz follows the St. Olaf and Vikings football teams’ progress each fall, as well as other Minnesota sports teams.

Dr. Christina Pauley

Christina Pauley, DDS, grew up in Rochester, Minn. She is excited to be caring for patients in her hometown!

Education

Dr. Pauley is a graduate of Mayo High School in Rochester. She graduated magna cum laude from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., double majoring in chemistry and biology. Evident through her participation in collegiate athletics, choral ensembles, and volunteer groups, Christina finds enjoyment in being involved within her community. While leading a St. Olaf Global Medical and Dental Brigade to Honduras, Christina first discovered her passion for dentistry.

Following college graduation, Dr. Pauley served with AmeriCorps and worked at Penz Dental Care as an administrative assistant. To earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, Dr. Pauley attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

Dental Interests

While appreciative of the procedural variety of general dentistry, Dr. Pauley’s favorite aspect of being a dental provider is the ability to form connections with her patients. She understands dental fears and anxieties and values the importance of ensuring each patient feels at ease during their visits. She has a special interest in working with kids!

Dr. Pauley is a member of the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

Why Rochester?

“I am excited to be back in my hometown for a multitude of reasons! Recognizing how fortunate I am to have grown up in Rochester, I have a strong desire to provide care in the community I was raised in. I am looking forward to spending time with my family who still live in the area! Additionally, the opportunity to join an office like Penz Dental Care is one that is (understandably) sought out by many in our profession. I cannot wait to join a team that values high standards of patient care, continual learning, and the importance of having fun at work.”

On a Personal Note…

Dr. Pauley and her husband, Tommy, reside in Rochester. They enjoy traveling, scuba diving, spending time with family, personal fitness, golf, and desserts.

Dr. David Wold

David Wold, DDS, grew up in Woodbury, Minn. After working as a general dentist in the Twin Cities and in Boise, Idaho, he is excited be back in Minnesota.

Education

Dr. Wold graduated with honors from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minn., with a B.A. in management. During his time at Gustavus, he excelled on the varsity baseball team as a pitcher and as team captain. Following college graduation, Dr. Wold attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. During this time, Dr. Wold was awarded the Professionalism Scholarship by his faculty for exemplary communication with patients and colleagues. Passionate about teaching, Dr. Wold served as adjunct clinical faculty at the U of MN School of Dentistry.

Dental Interests

Dr. Wold is actively involved in the growing field of biomimetic restorative dentistry (BRD). He gravitated towards this philosophy of care as he was searching for ways to improve longevity and clinical results for his patients. With his demonstrated expertise of the material, Dr. Wold serves as a faculty mentor with the Alleman Center of Biomimetic Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Wold presents on this subject matter, most notably at the Idaho State Dental Association annual meeting.

Why Rochester

“Minnesota will always be ‘home.’ Rochester is a welcoming and growing community I am eager to be a part of. Dr. Penz and I attended dental school at the same time, and we reconnected through biomimetic dentistry. When an opportunity arose to work together, I couldn’t say no!”

On a Personal Note

In his spare time, Dr. Wold enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants with his wife Katie, and spending time with their children Lydia and Benjamin and dog Lola. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf.
