New Digital Technology & Techniques Provide Superior Restorations

Penz Dental Care is now utilizing CAD/CAM digital impression technology!

What does this mean for patients?

In most cases, it means no more goopy impression trays! Digital impressions are faster, more comfortable, and more accurate than traditional impressions.

How does it work?

We use an intra-oral scanner to create a digital model of your teeth. That model can be used to make single-unit crowns, on-lays, bridges, implants, nightguards, whitening trays, and retainers.

Why is it better?

It’s more conservative: Our goal is to replace only the tooth structure that’s damaged. In some cases, we are able to do an “on-lay” instead of a crown. An on-lay only removes the damaged tooth structure and replaces that portion of the tooth. In contrast, a traditional crown removes both damaged and healthy tooth structure in order to place a traditional crown or cap on top of the tooth.

Quicker turnaround: This new software enables us to design restorations right in our office. We create your crown or on-lay using our milling machine. This allows us to deliver the final product without the need for a temporary crown.

Superior materials: We use materials that have similar properties to natural tooth enamel, and we rely on gold standard adhesives to bond those materials to the tooth. This combination will last 3-4 times longer than traditional restorations.

To sum it up:

This new technology—in combination with cutting edge dental techniques—results in higher quality and longer lasting restorations. We are excited to offer this care to our patients!
