The thickness can be customized to the sport that the athlete is playing. For example, a boxer will need more thickness in the front to protect the teeth, gums, and bone. A football, hockey, or lacrosse player will wear a facemask, so the mouthguard will not need to be as thick in the front, but it will need to be thicker on the back teeth to protect during collisions that occur while playing the sport. The material we use helps absorb the force of impact.
